The Goa Packing List Nobody Gives You (Monsoon + December Edition)

Edition 1: Monsoon Goa (June–September)

Monsoon Goa is the connoisseur's Goa — empty beaches, green hills, waterfalls running, room rates at half-mast. It's also operationally different from peak-season Goa in ways your bag needs to know about.

The list:

• A packable rain shell, not an umbrella. Goa rain arrives horizontally and you'll be on a scooter. Umbrellas are decoration.
• Quick-dry everything. Cotton stays wet for two days in that humidity. Two quick-dry sets beat six cotton ones.
• Floaters/sandals with grip. Shack floors, wet laterite, scooter footboards — this is a traction destination.
• Zip-lock bags or a dry pouch for phone and wallet. The scooter ride will find rain.
• Cash. Shacks, small kitchens and beach vendors run on it; the card machine is "not working" as a lifestyle.
